Abstract: The paper analyzes the evolution of the human right to privacy, especially through the prism of the development of digital technologies. Although the right is more recent, the genesis of the development of the human right to privacy is very significant through the development of the dynamics of social relations. In this sense, the development of the right to privacy is first analyzed. After that, the challenges of realizing this right in the era of universal connectivity and the development of human relations at a distance are observed. A special aspect is devoted to the development of artificial intelligence, as a tool that generates a large amount of data and the possibility of machine reasoning and logic. In this way, artificial intelligence is seen as a key determinant in the possibilities of data abuse, but also in jeopardizing the human right to privacy. The research points to guidelines for understanding, and therefore protection of key human rights in the era of dynamic development of digital technology. In this regard, the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020-2025 is also taken into account.
