Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present an approach to the analysis and modelling of instantaneous magnetising power of ferromagnetic samples in a uni-axial magnetic field. The analysis is based on calculation of constitutive components (absorbed and oscillatory) of this power using harmonic components of the magnetic field strength of the sample. The modelling is based on Bertottis model of power loss separation, completely in time domain. The approach has been applied to the experimental results obtained for a toroidal sample made of grain-oriented electrical steel for controlled shape of the magnetic flux density waveform at frequencies of 1 Hz and 50 Hz. In addition to the introduction of the approach, the paper presents measured waveforms of the magnetic field and flux density to which the approach has been applied. Also, the waveforms of the corresponding instantaneous magnetising powers and its components, as well as instantaneous power loss components are presented. The main features of the approach are also discussed.
