Сажетак: In the postmodern, technologized world, construction and realization of reality becomes a key issue. As a potential answer to the issue, classic cyberpunk science fiction literature formulates its own vision of reality and humanity by radically redefining the relationship between the two. Postmodern literary texts question conventional perception of reality and undermine traditional view of subjectivity and representation by establishing a narrative framework where boundaries between reality and representation are extremely blurred. Reality, comprised of simulated images, can no longer be clearly defined, and humanity and identity are subjected to the influence of new simulation technology. This paper aims to establish and examine the relationship between space, technology, and identity in order to offer an insight into the process of constructing cyberspace as well as look through Baudrillard’s simulacra and Virilio’s theory of space-time relationship in the world controlled by “speed.” The paper will also strive to prove the following hypothesis: cyberspace can be seen as a heterotopic zone where human identity can be redefined.
