Title: HUMORIZAM U NOVELI „GOSPA NOLA” ISIDORE SEKULIĆ NA OSNOVU POSTULATA PIRANDELOVE POETIKE
Authors: Janković, Andrijana
Issue Date: 2020
Abstract: In her four essays, Isidora Sekulić critically summarized the creative work of Luigi Pirandello, an Italian writer, and provided significant but respectful insights into the author’s poetics. Our review is based on Pirandello’s essay On Humor (L’Umorismo) that, in addition to his poetics, contains key phrases that explain humor supported by many examples: the perception of the opposite (avvertimento del contrario) and the feeling of the opposite (sentimento del contrario) as a result of reflection. Our research was focused on the elements of humor that Isidora Sekulić exhibited in her work, especially in Gospa Nola (Ma’am Nola) from the collection of novellas The Chronicle of a Small-Town Graveyard. After a careful analysis of Pirandello’s essay and Isidora Sekulić’s selected novella, we outlined the elements of humor in her work by using a comparative approach and considering writing strategies and principles of Umberto Eco’s reading collaboration.
