Abstract

e paper deals with a contrastive and conceptual analysis of adjectival similes recorded within the conceptual field of obviousness. e objectives of the contrastive and conceptual analysis are to determine the types of equivalence between the similes in the Serbian and German language, as well as to identify similar mental patterns in the conceptualization of the field obviousness. eoretical and methodological postulates of contrastive and cognitive linguistics are used in the paper in order to recognize similarities and differences of similes in Serbian and German at the morphosyntactic, lexical and semantic level, as well as to give intercultural explanations particularly important for the translation practice.
