Abstract: Contemporary markets represent an inexhaustible source of changes which has become a central subject in tourism management today. Change management has replaced the traditional form of management. Survival in the tourism market implies creating a competitive advantage by means of forecasting, adapting to and managing changes. This process enables the creation of integral tourism offering which should satisfy the needs of sophisticated customers. New technologies and knowledge expansion contributed to a rise in customers’ intellectual levels. Lifestyles and people’s needs are the subjects of constant change, so the task of company and destination management executives is to follow those changes in order to discover opportunities for further growth. The aim of this work is to present the appearance, development and importance of wellness in contemporary tourist destination offerings, as well as its presence in Serbian spas. Wellness was created as a change management solution for the tourism market. This megatrend has become the imperative for successful development of spa destinations. Serbian spas currently have underused potentials, so there is an obvious need for educated personnel from the area of management in order to develop the top level medical and tourism offerings in accordance with new trends.
