Title: Development of Tara Mountain on the Sustainable Development Principles

Abstract: Having in mind that it is about the National Park of Serbia, tourist valorization of natural and cultural values of Tara mountain requires a careful approach. Tourism of this area must be developed in accordance with legal constraints in approach and usage of natural resources and in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The aim of this paper is to point to the necessity of applying the principle of sustainable development of tourism on Tara mountain. Tourist activity is observed as a possibility for social-economic prosperity of this area, while sustainable development is that path to the reduction of negative effects of tourism on environment. The application of the sustainable development principle, as a crucial factor of the destination success implies the participation of different stakeholders whose interests are often rather different. The task of destination management is the coordination and fostering of the cooperation between all destination stakeholders.
