Сажетак: The subject of this paper is a lexicological and linguo-cultural analysis of zoonyms in the English and Serbian languages. In this paper, we relied on the theoretical frames of Lakoff and Turner and the metaphor The Great Chain of Being (Lakoff, Turner 1989). The main aims of this paper are 1) the identification of eleven zoonyms in the English and Serbian languages which belong to the category of domestic animals kept on farms; 2) the establishment of similarities and differences in terms of semantic realizations of the identified zoonyms; 3) the identification of morphosyntactic structures of the analyzed zoonyms. The results show more similarities than differences in terms of the meanings of the analyzed zoonyms in English and Serbian. When addressing the interlocutor directly, in Serbian, zoonyms are expressed in the form of vocative, whereas in English, the vocative equivalent is a You X! form in terms of the analyzed corpora used in this paper. The analyzed forms in this paper express derogative meaning, which can be conditioned by the appearance of the animal.
