Title: Dositejev anđeo hedonizma – monaška trpeza od Svetog Save do Dositeja Obradovića

Issue Date: 2020
Abstract: In this paper in the context of cultural studies, two banquets presented in the typikons of St. Sava and in the Life and Events of Dositej Obradovic, are comparatively observed. The given texts outline two different epochs, two different religious discourses, two different perceptions and conceptions of the world, two different types of monks, and finally two different concepts of man, and the way of his identity self-formation. The metamorphosis of the medieval bowl into the plate of Enlightenment is a consequence of the alteration of the gastronomic scene of two poetics, which involves abandoning the religious character of the monastic table and incorporating a hedonistic experience in consuming food and drink, while the process of detologized eating follows the Kantian awareness of self-righteous immaturity, and it becomes a moment in which the other (god) is absent as the source of identity, and the person turns to himself as the source of himself.
