Pripovest o poljupcu u apokrifu "Žitije i ispovest Asenete"

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to look at certain segments of the Old Testament apocrypha The Life and Confession of Aseneth through the lens of Fromm’s teaching on love, where it is possible to establish the existence of a kind of story about a kiss within the mentioned work. The initial moment of that story would be a rejected kiss, after which the individual psychological characteristics of the main characters, Joseph and Aseneth, come to the fore, and special attention is paid to them in the work. The next stage in the story’s development is defined again by means of a kiss – this time realized – a kiss of acceptance, forgiveness and understanding, and finally, the fullness of love and togetherness are confirmed by the characters’ first conjugal kiss, which is how the story of the kiss got its finale. The main motive of this research is one of the basic aspirations expressed in the apocrypha The Life and Confession of Aseneth – the glorification of the Christian concept of love.
