Abstract: The hydrogen is known as promising fuel in the future. The main advantage of the hydrogen is chemical composition which is responsible for low emission of carbon components. In the paper experimental work with hydrogen is presented, which was performed on a test engine specially modified for work with gaseous fuels. The injection and ignition parameters providing regular engine work are shown, at presented regime. The engine work was achieved with lean mixture, in order to reduce the combustion speed of the hydrogen, which should lead to the reduction of temperatures that occur during the working process, in order to avoid creation of high concentration of nitrogen oxides, which are characteristic when hydrogen is used. The working cycle as well as the combustion process and exhaust emissions were analyzed. It was concluded that with adequate injection and ignition parameters the regular engine work can be achieved, with satisfying performances.
