Abstract: This paper provides a historical overview of the advancement of interrogation of the suspect in policing. The text emphasizes the development of different approaches to police work according to the prevailing needs of the time - from early approaches and tactics that include a bureaucratic approach, through methods that include knowledge from behavioral sciences such as ethical interviewing, etc., until to the dominant text that provides an overview of the use of modern techniques in the police interrogation of suspects, such as artificial intelligence and functional magnetic resonance imaging. The paper highlights some of the problems associated with these interrogation methods, particularly the risks of unreliable information and potential errors that may occur as a result of criminal proceedings. In addition, the paper also raises a significant question on the ethics and emphasizes the importance of sensitivity to the rights and needs of suspects, even when conducting interrogations during investigations of the most serious crimes.
