Abstract: Social insurance for the self-employed represents a key aspect of protection and economic security for individuals working for themselves. This system encompasses various forms of insurance, including health, pension, and unemployment insurance, with the aim of providing basic social benefits. The social insurance system for the self-employed also plays a vital role in ensuring social security, allowing individuals to confront the risks associated with self-employment. Although differences in access to social insurance rights are evident, many countries have adopted social insurance systems that increasingly aim to equalize coverage between employed and selfemployed individuals. In the paper, the author presents examples of solutions adopted in European Union countries, highlighting both favorable and less favorable examples.
