| Abstract: | Numerous economic analysts have engage in the influence of foreign direct investments (FDI) on the export performance of countries that base their growth and development on foreign investments. The removal of barriers to the free flow of capital and intensive financial globalization contribute to FDI supporting export growth and accelerating economic growth. The inflow of capital represents an important impulse in low-accumulation economies, through the expansion of fixed capital, encouraging innovation, increasing productivity and generating new jobs in the economy. However, labor-intensive products and products based on natural resources are predominantly represented in the export structure of Serbia - copper ore, insulated wire and cables, electricity obtained from renewable sources, parts and accessories for motor vehicles, agricultural products, etc. Despite the fact that it attracted a significant stock of FDI, the Serbian economy did not significantly improve its overall economic performance. In order to achieve a greater cumulative inflow of investments in sectors that contribute to more dynamic growth (more technologically intensive economic activities), the domestic economy should provide better infrastructure, political and institutional stability, a more stimulating business environment and a more developed financial market. |
