dc.description.abstractSubject of this analysis is a contract of lease under the Serbian Civil Code (1844). The definition of the contract of lease encompasses two contracts: contract of service and contract of work.The contract of lease had been using also as anemployment contract until 1910, except for an artisans and merchants. The employment contract for an artisans and merchants was regulated by a guild decree (1847). When the labor law (1910) was passed in Kingdom of Serbia, the lease no longer had the function of an employment contract. All in all, the contract of lease played a significant role in regulating labor relations during the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.en_US
