This paper examines humoristic and satirical elements in the novel The Epic of Water by Enes Halilović. The research has determined that the novel The Epic of Water is to a large extent permeated with humoristic elements, while the central story is deeply satirical and tragic at its core. By observing certain events from a specified temporal distance, these same events become the primary incentive for the author to create this story which abounds with elements of ambivalent laughter. In this novel the author unmasks certain social phenomena, points to weaknesses and negativities by using elements of humour and satire, opposes and confronts the misapprehensions which led a society to the verge of its ruin.en_US
