This paper aims to examine the linguistic comedy and comic characterization of the heroes of the novel Bihorians by Ćamil Sijarić. Having analysed this literary work, we have come to the conclusion that the author often apostrophizes comic situations corroborated by the linguistic comedy of the protagonists which is constructed upon the lexis of folk speech in the area of Bihor, as well as upon the credulity of the characters who are often bereft of logical understanding. The directness of expression evokes the singularity of the South Sandžak dialect which abounds with Orientalisms – Turkish and Arabic loanwords, among which archaisms particularly come to the fore, which represents the general symbol of comedy in Ćamil Sijarić’s entire opus.en_US
