Abstract

The paper will address two issues that are extremely important for achieving the purpose of the media in society, their independent and impartial action, and enabling citizens to freely enjoy media rights and freedoms. The first question is secondary (accompanying) and it is about the ownership transformation of the media, while the second question is the mainstay of the work and is entitled media financing. The author wanted to shift the focus of his work to the sources of media financing, but he had to address the issue of media ownership beforehand, in order to process them in a comprehensive way. The paper will analyze the normative solutions that regulate the ways of financing the media, as well as the weaknesses that have emerged in their practical application. The importance of the work is reflected in the analysis of factors that are determinants of true, objective, timely information, and only such information meets the needs of citizens and achieves the general interest of society.
