Radoje Simić dedicated one part of his scientific preoccupations to the literary works of Serbian writers, among whom are the writers whose works are included in elementary or high school curriculum. Simić’s research can be a significant professional support for teachers for the improvement of teaching approach to the works of the mentioned writers. The subject matter of our paper is the educational potential of Simić’s research dedicated to the grammatical and intonational structure of the novel Migrations by Miloš Crnjanski. Simić dealt with this topic two times (1978 and 2012), and during the second research he introduced a scientific journal which appeared in linguistics in the meantime. The goal of our analysis is: (1) to examine the ways in which Simić’s research results can be used for high school analysis of the novel Migrations; (2) to propose methodical approach to the novel Migrations in high school classes of Serbian language and literature using the base of his research. The analysis of the educational potential of Simić’s research dedicated to the grammatical and intonational structure of the novel Migrations by Miloš Crnjanski has shown that the conclusions of Simić’s research from 2012 can be used entirely for high school analysis of this novel. By doing so, teaching approach to a literary text is improved and students’ competence in language and literature is developed. The teacher will direct students to explore, observe and consider linguistic-stylistic phenomena: (1) repetition of linguistic units; (2) repetition of syntactic structures; (3) alternation of extensive and short statements; (4) use of punctuation marks; (5) combining symmetric and asymmetric syntactic structures. Students will build the following competencies: (1) observe and explain the poetic, linguistic, aesthetic and structural features of a literary work; (2) assess whether the more complex text is well structured and coherent; (3) notice stylistic procedures in the text; (4) assess the extent to which certain features of the text affect its understanding and contribute to the interpretation of the meaning of the text; (5) interpret a literary text by examining its integrative factors.en_US
