Emploi des temps verbaux dans L’étranger d’Albert Camus et dans son équivalent serbe Stranac

Abstract

In this article we focus on the analysis of verb tenses in the novels of Albert Camus in French and Serbian, namely L’Étranger and Stranac. It must be emphasized that we will also introduce the analysis of the conditional, treating it as a tense of the indicative mood. Our objective is to demonstrate and explain the use of verb tenses in L’Étranger and to determine their semantic equivalents in Stranac. Special attention will be paid to the question of how the verb tenses, used in the novel, ensure the narrative temporal progression and what stylistic effects they produce in the novel
