The subject of the paper is the testing of the righteous Job in the Book of Job and the apothecary of The Hagiography and Accomplishments of Righteous Job and the revelation of the Prologue in the Sky from Goethe’s Faust. We will insist on presenting the motifs and various manifestations of the theodicy in the above-mentioned works, adhering to the characteristics of the genres to which they belong. We will try to present the temptation and redemption of the human soul, which is the basis of Christianity. We will pay special attention to the symbol of the sufferer with a reference to the essence of human existence and the destiny in conjunction with the traditional religion and transformations of the same. The different appearances of the archetypal personality of the righteous Job and the different approach to the themes of the opposition of God and the devil are a kind of developmental path of the believer and Christianity itself. The aim of the paper is to highlight the similarities and differences in representing Job’s righteousness and his temptation as a symbol of entire humanity.en_US
