This paper explores the issue of the postmodern city and its representation in two selected novels of Don DeLillo. First of all, the aim of the paper is to delve into the structure and the characteristics of postmodern cities, which play the key role in reshaping the pillars of Western society based on logocentrism. Particular attention is paid to the basic characteristics of contemporary poststructuralist theory and to the concept of hyperreality whose elements are epitomised in the complex, labyrinthine structure of the city. The outlined perspectives are then used as a theoretical background for analysing the city’s impact on contemporary society and human consciousness in DeLillo’s novels White Noise (1985) and Point Omega (2010). The main goal of the analysis is not only to provide insight into the similarities of DeLillo’s approach to the postmodern city in his early and his later novels, but also to shed light on how the concept changed in the course of twenty-five years and how those changes reflected on his characters.en_US
