Savremena proučavanja jezika i književnosti : zbornik radova sa XIV naučnog skupa mladih filologa Srbije, održanog 2. aprila 2022. godine na Filološko-umetničkom fakultetu u Kragujevcu.en_US
The paper forms part of the semantics/pragmatics study conducted within the relevance-theoretic framework. More specifically, it examines the interface between lexicography and pragmatics in the field of addressing in the selected monolingual, descriptive dictionaries of English and Serbian, which have served as a case in point. Furthermore, I have investigated the extent to which the dictionaries reflect translation equivalence with regard to the relevant pragmatic information. The conclusion, based on the corpora, is twofold: on the one hand, the relevant contextual information is available in the monolingual dictionary entries; on the other hand, more than forty percent of the attested English and Serbian lexemes for addressing do not have translation equivalents in the selected bilingual dictionaries. Notwithstanding the limited range of my study, and the conclusion thereof, further investigation into the field of addressing, which would include data from various (communicatively oriented) dictionaries, including different language pairs, is in order. In sum, the lexicographic/pragmatic interface emerges as a fruitful field of scientific endeavor.en_US
