In this paper we have analyzed some aspects of naming in the novel Semolj zemlja written by MiroVuksanovic. We assumed that microtoponyms can be compared with the geographical signs. In other words, we have proposed the idea that microtoponyms have either a logical or aesthetical code depending on their stylistic role in the novel. Мost of the microtoponyms found in the novel have a logical code. Their naming is due to extracting one distinctive feature of the geographic object and to the transformation of this feature into a microtoponyme. This transformation can occur directly or indirectly, thus, we proposed a scalar approach in the analysis of microtoponyms with a logical code. A minor number of microtoponyms have aesthetical code which is derived from a logical code, and the prototypical examples of this are microtoponyms whose ames are defined as “unique”, “beautiful” or “pure”.en_US
