This article deals with the letter of the King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary to Abbot Alexander of Dubrovnik, the head of the Benedictine Abbey of Telki (near medieval Buda), which was composed at Brod on the Sava River on 2 November 1465. The research was carried out in consideration of the fact that the letter represents the oldest original document in Old Serbian issued by a Hungarian king or court officials in the 15th century; as such it represents a significant testimony of the use of Old Serbian in diplomatic correspondence in southeast Europe at that time. In addition to the text in its original script, translations into contemporary Serbian, and accompanying philological comments, the most important orthographic and linguistic features are presented.en_US
