The paper discusses current explanations of the origin of the term soć(e) (primary and permanent tax in the Serbian medieval lands) and proposes a new origin explanation based on the metonymic model the means of measuring feudal giving — feudal giving. Since soć(e) could be paid with money or with trade the paper arguments the belief that in the core of this term is the greek origin word σάκκιον meaning “little sack”.en_US
