dc.description.abstractThe paper deals with music education of students, future educators at the initial level. The subject of the conducted research arestudy programs of the faculties where educators are trained in the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Croatia. The goal of the research is a comparative analysis of study programs of the faculties where educators are trained, specifically, an analysis of the representation of music subjects that enable students to acquire competencies for the realization of musical activities. The focus was on compulsory and optional subjects within the musical education of students. The sample consisted of the programs of 17 faculties in the Republic of Serbia and the region.The comparative analysis showed that music subjects are incorporated differently in the programs. A smaller difference was observed in the treatment of compulsory subjects, while a greater distinction is evident in optional subjects. Bearing in mind the importance of the initial education of educators for future work with children, we believe that in the creation of study programs for the education of educators, it is necessary to devote more attention and space to music subjects, so that the musical education of students is continuous during their studies.en_US
