Abstract

An increasing number of people today spend their free time in virtual space, attend events, work on joint projects, meet as avatars. In this way, they create a new kind of connection between the digital world and real life. The economy has long recognized the benefits of the virtual world. Companies buy real estate and provide business in the virtual space. Metaverse offers many opportunities for business, but it also brings with it many challenges. With the growth of interest in the virtual world, numerous legal issues are also being raised, primarily which legal system is applied in the virtual space and which courts are competent to decide in case of violation of rights. In the paper, the author will deal with the issue of intellectual property rights protection in the metaverse, primarily the issue of trademark protection in the virtual space. Research has shown that in the future courts will increasingly deal with the legal issues of the metaverse, and legislation will also have to respond to the demands of the new virtual world.
