Savremena proučavanja jezika i književnosti – Zbornik radova sa X naučnog skupa mladih filologa Srbije, održanog 31. marta 2018. godine na Filološko-umetničkom fakultetu u Kragujevcu, godina X / knjiga 1en_US
The paper is based on a contrastive analysis of the linguistic behaviour between men and women, and a specific phenomenon ‘swear word’ was chosen as the subject of the analysis. The objective of this paper is to quantitatively determine the frequency of use of swear words in female and male speech through different conversational contexts (in homogenous and heterogeneous groups), then to analyse and typologically determine types of swear words according to Trudgill and Anderssоn’s categorisation of swear words through a transcribed recording. Eventually, the validity of the study was completed with a questionnaire which examined the attitudes of male and female population from our study about linguistic behaviour of men and women, in the case of swearing. The results of the study show a deviation from the generally accepted attitude that women swear less than men, and that context plays a crucial role when it comes to the use of swear words in the language of women and men.en_US
