This paper examines the figure of the temple as a thanatological space, in which Mary Mother of God, the dead darling, and the poet are interlaced. It insists on the closeness of the dead darling and Theotokos, assuming that, in the context of temple theology (Baker), they both stem from a common archetypal matrix - the so-called, Lady of the Temple. Parallels are established between the temple and the tomb, the temple and the Virgin, and finally the Virgin and the grave, where, in the last parallel, the Virgin becomes a way of overcoming death and enabling the poet’s encounter with his beloveden_US
