Abstract: The processor represents the subject of the personal data protection law, which was given relatively little attention in the regulations until the General Data Protection Regulation. Having in mind the characteristics of the IT sector and the fact that a large number of services are being outsourced, in the General Data Protection Regulation, as well as in the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, many provisions are dedicated to the legal regulation of this subject. The following paper analyzes the position of the processor as a service provider according to the aforementioned regulations in terms of defining its concept, obligations, and responsibilities. The goal of the paper is to examine, by applying the legal-dogmatic and sociological method, to what extent the legal regulation in this area corresponds to the position and role of the processor, as a service provider, as well as the way of doing his business.
