The term favoritism refers to various forms of personnel-political protection that holders of public offices undertake in the interest of persons connected with them, at the expense of the public or general interest. Favoritism as a social phenomenon appears most often in the domain of politics, but it is also present in the areas of work, employment and public investment. Since the operationalization of favoritism practice violates the public interest, but also endangers elementary legal and social values, the issue of preventing this phenomenon deserves attention in the domain of legal theory. The author therefore analyzes in his paper the emerging forms of favoritism and the consequences that this phenomenon creates in terms of social relations. The research task is aimed at examining possible ways of manifestation of favoritism, as well as methods of social action aimed at suppressing this phenomenon. Also, in the paper we try to point out certain similarities and key differences that exist between favoritism and discrimination.en_US
