dc.description.abstract | The subjects of this paper’s analysis are phraseological units that include the lexemes sun/sol and star/estrella in Serbian and Spanish. Within the context of this paper, we interpret the term phraseological unit in a broader sense, i.e. the analysis includes all those types of established word constructions that represent the subject of phraseology research in a broader sense. The collected material was excerpted from several phraseological, as well as general-purpose dictionaries in Serbian and Spanish. Based on the obtained results, it was concluded that both analyzed lexemes are very productive for the creation of phraseological units and that the meanings they develop often have both a positive and a negative connotation. Thus, some of the meanings carried by phraseological units with the lexeme sun/sol are ’to be happy for someone’, ’to be clear, clean, just’, ’to bring someone better times/happiness’, but also ’not to give someone peace’, ’to experience discomfort/to have an unfortunate experience’, ’to seek one’s own benefit’ and even ’to die’. When it comes to phraseological units with the lexeme star/estrella, some of the meanings that are identified are ’to have luck/not to have luck’, ’to dream’, ’to please’, ’to praise too much’, ’to set impossible goals’, etc. When it comes to phraseological equivalence in the language pair Serbian-Spanish, the analysis showed a higher degree of equivalence in expressions with the constituent star/estrella in comparison with sun/sol. | en_US |
