The paper deals with unusual language features in Dejan Aleksić’s prose works, from the point of view of the relationship between children’s language and language play. The analysis was carried out using the linguistic-stylistic method. The corpus consisted of Dejan Aleksić’s prose works, with the emphasis on the stylistic dominants which represent the hallmark of the poetics of this established and award-winning children’s writer. Dejan Aleksić’s language play is realised through occasionalisms, pairing of words by sound, puns, literal meanings of phraseologisms, chaining of successive rhymes as in folk rhymes ‒ which are the specific characteristics of spontaneous children’s language creativity.en_US
