O UPOTREBI NOMINATIVA U GOVORU GORNJE RIBNICE KOD KRALJEVA

Abstract

This paper analyzes the use of nominatives in the speech of Gornja Ribnica near Kraljevo. Since this speech is integrated into the Kosovo-Resavian dialect area exposed to the influence of analytical structures and subjected to certain analytical changes, the paper aims to show the use of the nominative as an independent case, highlighting the functions and meanings that this case takes from the standard language in the speech of Gornja Ribnica specifying the functions and meanings that the nominative acquires in the examined speech during the changing process in the field of use. It is assumed that the nominative form in the analyzed idiom expresses the function of the subject and the predicate and that the changes in the field of use of this case, in relation to the standard language, refer to the expansion of the number of functions and meanings that can be expressed by this case. The excerpted material is classified according to the functions and meanings of this case, first according to the functions and meanings characteristic of the standard idiom, and then according to the functions and meanings atypical for this case in relation to the standard. As an independent, or central case, the nominative in the speech of Gornja Ribnica retains the subject and predicate position, and at the same time expands the field of use by taking over the functions and meanings of other cases in certain situations. The nominative does not completely take over the functions of other cases but appears as a competitive form with a tendency to prevail in the redistribution of certain functions and meanings of some cases, similar to the situation in other Serbian dialects, especially those in which Balkanistic features are developed.
