Title: Искуство изгнанства и мотив куге у песми „Једном, сањала сам кугу” Ане Ристовић
Authors: Mojsilović, Milica B.
Journal: Zbornik Matice srpske za književnost i jezik
Issue Date: 2025
Abstract: The second collection of poems by Ana Ristović, entitled Sand rope (1997), discreetly connects the cultural phenomenon of exile with the motif of the plague, thus introducing the reader to the space of an unusual quarantine to which all those to whom this world is given in different forms, in every sense, are condemned. The work focuses on the poem „Once, I dreamed of the plague”, which opens the collection with its oneirism. The collection’s basic inspiration, related to the distant expanses of the Andes, is permeated and expanded by a thematic-motivic complex that encompasses issues of exile, isolation and discrimination, as well as the experiences of outsiders, the exiled and the rejected. Those who are different, regardless of whether they have not voluntarily accepted this difference, but rather have been given it by nature – are for the majority a group of afflicted people, condemned to loneliness and isolation
