Title: DEKOMPONOVANI PREDIKAT U PUBLICISTIČKOM FUNKCIONALNOM STILU (NA PRIMERIMA IZ DNEVNE I NEDELJNE ŠTAMPE)
Authors: Ivković, Ksenija
Issue Date: 2025
Abstract: The subject of this paper is the syntactic analysis of the decomposed predicate in the journalistic writing style. The aim of the research is to analyze the prevalence of the most productive models of the decomposed predicate and the reasons for decomposing the predicate. The models and reasons for decomposition are derived from previous studies and confirmed with examples from the analyzed corpus. The corpus for this research consists of electronic editions from the archives of daily newspapers that mainly report on current political and economic topics: Politika, Novosti, and Danas from 2021 and 2022, as well as a weekly newspaper, Nedeljnik. The selection of this corpus is motivated by the fact that the content of the mentioned newspapers mostly consists of articles on political topics, where the highest frequency of use of the decomposed predicate is expected. The hypothesis about the frequency of the decomposed predicate in the journalistic writing style, which this paper will examine, is established based on previous results of functional-stylistic research, which show a pronounced tendency towards nominalization and, therefore, the frequency of examples of the decomposed predicate in this style.
