Abstract: The paper explores the possibilities of linking theoretical interpretation of selected children’s literature texts in higher education with students’ active participation in analyzing and systematizing teaching contents. It has been pointed out that interpretive texts have a significant role in upgrading future class teachers’ and preschool teachers’ specific verbal performative skills. The partnership between teachers and students is taken into consideration and students’ tandem/group presentations are analyzed in order to highlight the effects of linking theoretical with performative aspect of the interpretation of texts. It has been concluded that such a model of teaching represents an important prerequisite for a higher level of students’ achievments in the following years of studying, within methodological practicums in the field of speech development and Serbian language and literature, since it makes it easier for students to prepare and carry out their activities during their teaching practice in preschool institutions and schools.
