dc.description.abstract | Cementless hip implants are thought to be more durable than cemented hip implants. The primary problem with the cementless type is that unless the connection that forms between bone and implant is strong, the patient will require a revision surgery. A possible way to improve this connection is a surface modification of a hip implant, which would reduce micro movements between femoral bone and implant. The goal of the present study was to employ the numerical approach in order to analyze two hip implant surface modifications. Numerical approach consisted of the implementation of the finite element method (FEM) for the simulation of the bone-implant interaction and for the calculation of the shear stress values on the surface topographies of two hip implants. | - |
