Abstract: The subject of the paper is the analysis of the stabilization clause contained in joint venture agreement „Belgrade Waterfront“ project, signed between the Republic of Serbia and the partner from the United Arab Emirates in 2015. This stabilization clause provides the preservation of the legal framework that regulates the legal position of a foreign investor, preventing the foreign investor from being brought into a less favorable legal and economic position during the investment. The focus of the paper will be on the analysis of the characteristics of the stabilization clause contained in this contract, determining the type of stabilization clause, its effects and scope. The paper will analyze the stabilization obligation of the Republic of Serbia as a host country, but also the privileged position of partners from the United Arab Emirates, as a foreign investor, with a general review of the effects produced by the specific stabilization clause. The subject of research set in this way is conditioned by the constantly growing importance, which, in order to stimulate economic development, countries attach to foreign investments.
