Title: UBISTVO KULTURE LjUBAVI U ROMANU „SVEDOČANSTVA“ MARGARET ATVUD
Authors: Milić, Jadranka
Issue Date: 2021
Abstract: In the height of the western ideology which uses its various mechanisms to convince us in the righteousness of domination systems there is a flow of the thinkers who invite us to go „outside the whale”8 and critically examine the mechanisms of the dominated systems. Following bell hooks in the book All about Love, we come to the conclusion that it is possible to unmask domination systems if we oppose them the culture of love where love is viewed as the active force which strives to societal change. The aim of the paper is to show that in The Testaments Margaret Atwood uses the topic of love, that is the absence of it, to draw attention to the status of love and the mechanisms of misuse and murder of love in the patriarchy domination system in order to question the negative consequences of the murder of love in one society both textually and contextually. The paper concludes that Margaret Atwood introduces three heroines, who are the examples of how to live the culture of love inside the patriarchy, to show that each domination system ends once the culture of love prevails over the culture of domination and once love is understood as the active force which strives to change the systems of exploitation and oppression.
