Abstract: The paper applies the theoretical assumptions of virtual narration and cognitive theories novel The Broken Ideals of Svetolik Ranković. Ranković's "psychological novel" and his "Tragic characters" show their grounding in examples of counter-narrative and negative narration. Showing the inner structure of personality and alienation that rule Ljubomir-Leontius can be seen in virtual worlds that take him back to the past, where he is looking inspiration and justification of his ideals, but also those that lead him to the future, projected and conceived as these ideals dictate. The alienation of Ljubomir and Leontija reached its climax finds in the example of negative narration, where the inner psychological drama is brought to its own maximum.
