Title: Društvena kriza i obrazovanje
Authors: Trifunović, Vesna
Issue Date: 2021
Abstract: The paper discusses the relationship between society and education and the impact of the social crisis on the functioning of the education system. The challenges that society faces are reflected both in the way the formal education system works and in many other aspects, causing changes that, together, lead to the evolution of education. In the context of global challenges, such as pandemics, formal education faces the need to ensure continuity in work, as well as the requirement to adapt its own functioning to changed working conditions. New circumstances can, in principle, have a multiple impact: 1) to accelerate the process of homogenization of education, 2) to create social and other barriers in the modern education system, 3) to simplify the educational process and prevent the development of four pillars of knowledge presented by the International Commission on Education in the 21st century. The paper emphasizes the need for continuous research into the relationship be- tween society and education and, especially in the context of global challenges, the ways in which these two systems respond to challenges. The paper uses descriptive-analytical method and analysis of secondary material (analysis of scientific publications that deal with issues of social crisis, education and the Covid-19 pandemic).
