Title: Uloga centra za socijalni rad u sprečavanju nasilja u porodici
Authors: Sokovic, Snezana
Issue Date: 2020
Abstract: Although, formally speaking, the activities of social work centers are secondary and accompanying in relation to the activities of the bodies of the criminal justice system, their potential contribution to the prevention of domestic violence is essential. To repressive measures, which like are criminal law measures in their essence, the activity of social work centers gives a sense of prevention. The analysis of the role of these centers in the system of prevention of domestic violence indicates that the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence did not adequately include programs of work with perpetrators of violence in the system of prevention of domestic violence and thus did not use the proven potential of social work centers to contribute to the prevention of this form of violence through psychosocial treatment of perpetrators. As in the normative sense the space for the application of psychosocial treatment of perpetrators in criminal legislation is very narrow, and in practice further reduced due to the limited application of appropriate legal institutes, social work centers, despite professional training and encouraging positive results, found themselves in a situation where in the system of prevention of domestic violence they cannot provide the necessary services.
