Issue Date: 2020
Abstract: Subject of this analysis is a legal profession in Serbian law, during 19th and early 20th century. Namely, the legal profession (advocacy) has been beginning to develop in the second half of the 19th century. The structure of the legal profession was made up of educated and uneducated people. The “lawyers – pensioners” was working as lawyers, too. Consequently, reputation of the Serbian lawyers was worse than that of the lawyers in Western Europe. Also, people did not properly evaluate the lawyer’s service. Therefore, the question arises on what basis is the legal profession built in Serbian law and what consequences does it have today?
