Title: La pluralité d’événements en serbe et en français
Authors: Jovanović, Vera
Issue Date: 2018
Abstract: The present research focuses on categories of plurality of events and verbal plurality. The aim is first to describe the semantic subtypes of verbal plurality and to classify the linguistic means of representation of multiple events in French and Serbian respectively. The difference between a singular event and a multiple event is the distinction between a statement marking a single process (Julie vient d’arriver) and a statement denoting a complex process (Il a toussé pendant toute la journée. Ils se promenaient ensemble tous les soirs. J’ai lu son roman deux fois.). Examination of the corpus of examples in French and Serbian allows us to observe that the plurality of events can be marked by different linguistic means : morphological, lexical, syntactic, aspectual and contextual.
