Abstract: By ratifying the Istanbul Convention, Serbia undertook to amend its legislation by harmonizing it with the requirements outlined in the text of the Convention. The biggest changes are reflected in introducing four new criminal offenses into the criminal justice system of the Republic of Serbia. The subject of this paper will be the harmonization of the Criminal Code with the Istanbul Convention. The author will present the criminal acts introduced by the 2016 amendments, and then she will analyze the compatibility of the Criminal Code with other incriminations from the Convention. Guided by the report of the Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, the author will give her final conclusion on the compliance of a Criminal Code with the Istanbul Convention.
