Title: POLOŽAJ NARODNE SKUPŠTINE SRBIJE I EVROPSKOG PARLAMENTA
Authors: Rapajić, Milan
Issue Date: 2022
Abstract: A comparison of the position of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the European Parliament should serve to better understand two trends that have a lot of parallels - the integration of the European Union and (for now) the rapprochement of the Republic of Serbia with the European Union. These are two legislative bodies that, in addition to some similarities, have numerous differences. While the European Parliament is part of the legislation of the European Union, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has full legislative powers. The difference lies in the fact that the National Assembly represents the authority of the state and the European Parliament is an institution of the political and economic community, which is not yet a state. If the process of transferring sovereignty from the member states to the European Union continues, it can be assumed that the differences between the European Parliament and the National Assembly (or the legislative body of another state) will decrease. Such a process would have an impact on increasing the power of the European Parliament.
