Abstract: Public-private partnership is a business model that has been used in various modalities in developed countries for many years. To tell the truth, while in some examples it proved to be very practical and gave good results in the implementation of larger projects, in others it showed less success and manifested certain shortcomings, to the extent that in some countries it was, conditionally speaking, "thrown out" as a model of providing public services or carrying out large infrastructural projects and replaced by a different model. The aim of this work is to show public-private partnership as a concept in wide application, with its most significant characteristics and to underline the main advantages but also the risks it carries. The possibility of various abuses due to inadequate control of cash flows or unprofitable expensive projects as a result of bad initial analysis are just some of them. Also, the paper will give an overview of public-private partnership in the Republic of Serbia, examples of public-private partnership, as well as an overview of the most important regulations in this area.
