dc.description.abstractIncreasing of transport volumes brings more and more negative environmental impacts. Therefore, the development and application of new propulsion systems in the transport of passengers and goods is one of the priorities of transport policy in many European countries. Based on the large number of research on internal combustion engines have confirmed that the mechanical losses of piston group parts make up most of the losses related to friction in the engines. Power losses in the reciprocating piston air compressors are mainly engaged to overcome friction.For research purposes, we performed optimizing tribological properties of the sliding surfaces between the piston and cylinder which are made of aluminium alloys. In addition, we have carried out and testing of experimental reciprocating compressor on the test rig, in the laboratory for engines and compressors in University of Kragujevac and Faculty of Engineering.en_US
